CROSSBOW, NH -- (DP) Well, what can you do about lame, inane, lowbrow humor? By now you've all heard the "Barack The Magic Negro" song -- written by conservative satirist Paul Shanklin. It was performed on the Rush Limbaugh radio show with an Al Sharpton impersonator, who I'll save the embarrassment of naming here.
The first problem is the notion of a "conservative satirist." This is like trying to make chicken almondine: You want it to work, but it never really does. Chicken has no business trying to be taken seriously. It can't be. It shouldn't get dressed up to get messed up. If you want chicken with nuts, say so.
Paul Shanklin's chicken is not funny. A shame, because he has such a great comedic built-in headstart with his name: Paul Shanklin. You want it to be funny, but it never really is. Paul Shanklin. Sounds like something you need to do to unstick a stuck widget. "Here, take this tool and give it a paul shanklin; that'll free it up."
Paul Shanklin has no business trying to be funny. He has to be made funny. He tries to be funny but isn't. Rush Limbaugh tries not to be funny but is. (There's very little you can say, with a name like Rush Limbaugh, that isn't built-in hilarious.)
Thus, if you click on: "Rush The Magic Limbaugh," you'll find my YouTube reheating of this badly prepared chicken and grossly overcooked metaphor. One flavor fits all.
Bon appétit.

Thanks for the funny video~I suspect that Limbaugh dishes it out better than he takes it.~And I love your chicken almondine analogy-- lipstick on a pig only better!
