ANCHORAGE, ALASKA -- (DP) Ever since the unexpected announcement that peace had broken out just days before the 1972 presidential election, the "October Surprise" has played a pivotal role in the ensuing Election Day outcomes.
This election year, the traditional stunner has landed in both the Obama and McCain campaigns. Yesterday, unknown State Department sources revealed that Barack Obama has a half-aunt who's been living illegally in the U.S. since she was refused asylum in 2004.
Today, it was learned from an unwilling but fed-up Palin family confidante, that Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin has a twice-removed distant cousin's brother-in-law's half-sister's 3rd husband's great uncle's first wife who was suspected of running guns to the Russians in 1974, though she was never charged.
When asked about her association with the notorious Miksa Nannuruluk, (translated literally as '"between polar bears") Governor Palin said: "Isn't this November? Gee, I guess you can't call it an October surprise! Gotcha there!"
Ms. Nannuruluk is also the former "Miss Lopp Lagoon, 1947," and the family resemblances (pics above right & left) are distinct, especially in the muzzle velocities.
With the election now only 3 days away, both the Obama & McCain campaigns have agreed to stick to their gentleman's agreement to not use family issues in their speeches, commercials or campaign literature. "Yessiree. I'm happy to tell my people to ignore how Obama pals around with wetback relatives," said Governor Palin.
Stay tuned.
